Terms & Conditions

At PI West, all investigative services are governed by Québec law and regulated by the Bureau de la sécurité privée (BSP). By retaining our services, clients acknowledge and agree to the following terms.

  • PI West provides professional private investigation services only within the scope permitted by Québec and Canadian law.
  • Investigations are conducted ethically, lawfully, and without misrepresentation.
  • Services are provided on a best-effort basis; outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
  • Any agreement for services is limited to the scope defined at the time of engagement.
  • Additional services beyond the agreed scope require written approval and may incur additional fees.

No Guarantees & Limitation of Results

Private investigations involve variables beyond the investigator’s control, including third-party behavior, environmental conditions, and information availability.

  • PI West does not guarantee outcomes, confirmations, or discoveries.
  • The absence of findings does not indicate investigative failure.
  • Investigative opinions are based solely on observations and lawful evidence gathered.
  • Legal interpretation, admissibility, or outcomes remain the responsibility of courts and legal counsel.

Pricing, Deposits & Payment Policy

We believe financial clarity should never be a barrier to peace of mind.

  • A 50% deposit is required before any investigative work begins.
  • Deposits secure investigator time, preparation, and operational resources.
  • The remaining balance is due prior to the release of final reports, evidence, photographs, or video material.
  • Pricing is structured based on case complexity, time requirements, and investigative scope.
  • Service packages and À la carte options are available. Clients are encouraged to review the Fees & Services page to determine the most suitable option.
  • Investigations may be paused if payment obligations are not met.

Confidentiality & Privacy Commitment

Discretion is the foundation of our practice.

  • All client communications, records, and findings are handled with strict confidentiality.
  • Client identities are never disclosed without legal obligation.
  • Evidence is securely stored and transmitted using professional standards.
  • PI West does not share client information with third parties unless required by law.

Peace of Mind Investigations

Many clients retain our services for personal clarity rather than legal proceedings.

  • Investigations conducted for peace of mind are still subject to BSP and legal requirements.
  • Even when no legal action is anticipated, all investigative methods remain compliant and ethical.
  • Reports provided for informational purposes should not be construed as legal advice.

Evidence & Reporting

The relevance or admissibility of evidence in court is determined by legal authorities.

  • All client communications, records, and findings are handled with strict confidentiality.
  • Client identities are never disclosed without legal obligation.
  • Evidence is securely stored and transmitted using professional standards.
  • PI West does not share client information with third parties unless required by law.

Client Responsibilities

  • Provide truthful, accurate, and complete information.
  • Refrain from using investigative findings for harassment, coercion, or unlawful purposes.
  • Understand that withholding or misrepresenting information may affect outcomes.

PI West reserves the right to refuse or discontinue services if:
